Pope Leo, a canonist and a lion : make canon law great again! ( article en anglais et en français)

My french formation as a canonist and a woman has been an opening on the beauty of theology IN canon law. Pope Leo, I am sure of this, is a profound theologist. As a canonist, he will "embody" in canon law what we need today. But what do we need?
Well, I felt so happy when I saw the first american pope ever. Everybody exclaimed : an American! And I shouted, in my joy : and a canonist. 
If you read this blog for more than ten years, speaking about " pro foro interno/pro foro externo" (Can 130), you already know what my hope is on that precise point.

Our Pope is a teacher : he will teach clearly and precisely both in theology and canon law. I personnaly see him as a fighting Shepherd, LEO, a lion that defend his people against abuses. And for this, we need strong laws. To be efficient, we need them to be applied. Pope Leo knows them, he can make them better and he can have them respected. Well, I admitt I long for a Sheriff... Not Pope John Wayne, not POPE USA, but Pope Leo using the blessed canon law in a very efficient way, peacefully and with confidence in its theological roots.

Wait and see! But I thank the cardinals for their choice, I trust and I pray : the best qualities of christian faith with the best qualities of american genius may combined themselves in Pope Leo for the good of the Church, for the appeasement of the victims of abuse, for the revival of so many!

Ma formation française en tant que canoniste et femme a été une ouverture sur la beauté de la théologie DANS le droit canonique. Le Pape Léon, j'en suis sûre, est un profond théologien. En tant que canoniste, il « incarnera » dans le droit canonique ce dont nous avons besoin aujourd'hui. Mais de quoi avons-nous besoin ?
Je me suis sentie très heureuse lorsque j'ai vu le premier pape américain de l'histoire. Tout le monde s'est exclamé : un Américain ! Et j'ai crié, dans ma joie : et un canoniste. 
Si vous lisez ce blog depuis plus de dix ans, en parlant de « pro foro interno/pro foro externo » (Can 130), vous savez déjà quel est mon espoir sur ce point précis.

 

Notre Pape est un enseignant : il enseignera de façon claire et précise tant en théologie qu'en droit canon. Personnellement, je le vois comme un Pasteur protecteur, un LEO, un lion qui défend son peuple contre les abus. Et pour cela, nous avons besoin de lois fortes. Pour être efficaces, il faut qu'elles soient appliquées. Le Pape Léon les connaît, il peut les améliorer et les faire respecter. J'avoue que j'ai envie d'un shérif... Pas le Pape John Wayne, pas le PAPE USA, mais le Pape Léon utilisant le droit canonique, béni, d'une manière très efficace, pacifique et avec confiance dans ses racines théologiques.

Attendons de voir ! Mais je remercie les cardinaux pour leur choix, j'ai confiance et je prie : Le pape Léon XIV peut combiner en lui les meilleures qualités de la foi chrétienne avec les meilleures qualités du génie américain,  pour le bien de l'Eglise, pour l'apaisement des victimes d'abus, pour la renaissance de tant de personnes !
